Je dédie cet article à la merveilleuse et regrettée Silvia Machado. Je connaissais à peine Silvia lorsque j’ai entrepris ce voyage JCall. Elle avait

 proposé que nous partagions une chambre et j’avais accepté. J’ai eu le bonheur de découvrir une femme remarquable à la vision humaniste absolument lumineuse. Silvia aimait les gens, croyait au Bien et espérait qu’elle gagnerait ce combat de plus dans une existence qui fut riche et fertile. Je suis sûre que les graines qu’elle a semées vont fleurir et mes pensées émues vont à sa famille. La cérémonie de commémoration a permis de réunir une foule dense et très hétéroclite prouvant s’il en était besoin à quel point Silvia était aimée. Elle vivra toujours dans nos coeurs et nos pensées

Not all of them, far from it, and strangely enough usually from newcomers as opposed to the Pro-Peace camp made mostly of 3d or 4th generation Jews in Israel. Food for thought? It seems that my fellow sepharadic people are the most vocal about their diaapproval of pro-peace solution on the basis and memories of their cohabitation with Arabs, and they are shortly followed by Russian Immigrants who know about totalitarianism and see the Arab Threat as such.

Bouskila, David (2013), ‘Experience du maire de Sdérot’, paper given at JCall trip to Israel and Palestinian Territories, S’dérot.

En présence de Nomika Tsion du Kibboutz Saad qui a organisé la journée.

Il commence sa présentation par un film de 2,5 mn présentant la réalité des attaques de rockets sur la ville, réalisé en mai 2007.

Jusqu’à Avril 2001, Sédrot était une ville calme et inconnu du public. Depuis 13 ans, 8000 rockets se sont abbatues sur la ville. Tout le monde ici sait exactement à quoi correspondent 15 secondes, c’est le temps qui sépare la vie de la mort (si on ne se trouve pas très vite un abri).  La maison dans laquelle nous nous sommes réunis est un jardin d’enfant “bunkerisé” construit à la mémoire de deux petuties filles d’origine éthiopienne qui trouvèrent la mort sous les rockets.

Tséva Adom est le nom de la sirène prévenant qu’il reste 15 secondes pour se réfugier. Imaginez le dilemne pour les parents qui dans se laps de temps au milieu de la nuit doivent récupérer trois enfants…les choix qu’une telle situation impose.

Les enfants de 12 ans ne connaissent pas d’autre modus “vivendi”. 7300 personnes ici sont atteintes par des traumatismes divers, 30% de la population. On a ici 4 fois plus de psychologues et travailleurs sociaux que dans le reste du pays. Jusqu’en 2009, silence radio de la part des autorités. 30% de la population s’est alors dirigée vers les autres parties du pays. Aucun enfant des deux côtés de la frontière ne devrait connaitre cette situation.

Je ne peux rien pour les enfants de Gaza mais je ne suis pas celui qui tire. Le choix politique des citoyens de Gaza est à l’origine de ce problène. Nous sommes dans l’endroit le plus épineux du conflit Israélo-palestinien. Nous aimerions retrouver les relations avec les habitants de Gaza comme par le passé. La population n’aspire qu’à la paix avec ses voisins. Il n’y a pas un cm de Gaza qui soit sous contrôle israélien, donc il n’y a aucune raison pour ces agissements.

Nos habitants rêvent d’une nuit complête!

Question: Votre opinion sur la sorite de Gaza par les colons?

Quand on a rendu les territoires, ils n’en ont pas fait bon usage mais c’était une bonne décision de se retirer. Reste cet immense traumatisme des jeunes qui perdure et a des conséquences sur leur apprentissage et leur concentration.

Pourquoi les gens restent-ils ici: Parce que la vie y est paisible même si elle n’est pas tranquille, par rapport aux grandes villes et à cause de la mise en place du Dôme de Fer, le système anti-missiles.

Question: qu’en est-il des relations avec les maires des villes palestiniennes (sur des questions techniques et ponctuelles par exemple): il y a un an, j’ai tenté de prendre contact sur un problème de ce type mais j’ai essuyé un refus du maire de Gaza d’entrer en matière.

Question à propos du blocus: si les armes passent, le reste peut certainement passer! Tous leurs besoins vitaux sont fournis mais on ne leur laisse pas passer de produits qui pourraient leur servir à fabriquer des roquettes.

Nous sommes un Etat en guerre et dans une guerre, personne n’est gentil. Pourtant les habitants de Gaza continuent à être soignés en Israel.

Répartition politique: ici comme dans toutes les villes frontalières israéliennes, le Likoud et les partis de droite sont majoritaires.Démographiquement, 40% de population nouvellement arrivée mais il est aisé d’observer des vagues de migration: Maroc, Roumanie, Russie, Ethiopie. On qualifie de Vatikim les anciens qui constituent 60% de la population

Bitnoun, Barak and Bouganim, Léa (2013), ‘Association Gvanim (soin des adultes handicapés)’, paper given at JCall trip to Israel and Palestinian Territories, S’dérot.

 Il décrit ce qui se passe sur le plan social et politique à S’dérot. Son centre a été créé dans le cadre du Kibboutz urbain. Il s’agit d’un projet politque, social et éducatif (Mikvan) afin de crééer plus de lien institutiennel dans la mise en relation des individus. C’est le principe, l’idée au centre du projet. Lorsqu’il identifie un besoin, il initie un projet de collaboration avec la ville pour y répndre.

Un des premiers projets s’attache aux handicapés. Il implique des investissements personnels.

“Nous sommes tous des handicapés, mais certains individus sont ainsi définis par la société”. On travaille toujours avec un acteur local handicapé sur le projet. Les handicapés qui vivent ici sont acteurs de la vie communautaire. La philosophie du centre est d’associer le travail de ceux qui s’investissent dans le projet avec ceux qui portent le projet (handicapés) puis. que ce sont eux qui savent le mieux ce dont ils ont besoin. Mème le ministère de la santé a adopté cette façon de faire.

Nous avons une unsine “protégée”, des ateliers protégés permettant des activités rentables notamment dans le domaine du F&B (fabrication de repas, de sandwiches…)ainsi que des ateliers artistiques tant pour les handicapés eux-mêmes que pour la vente. divers types d’activités et centres sont disséminés dans la ville,
1) pour les enfants de moins de six ans (ce projet est l’un des plus élaborés du pays et va servir de modèle au plan national professe

2) centre pour jeunes adultes

3) pour les adultes

4) pour les jeunes délinquants

6) pour la résilience avec les problèmes de traumatisme liés aux rockets. Ceux-là devraient être dévelopés dans tous le pays ,mais à Sdérot, ils sont essentiels. Nous partons de la philosophie que le seul moyen de sortir de son traumatisme est de le transmettre, de l’exprimer avec d’autres.

7 et 8) deux autres centres portent un projet ethnique, celui qui s’adresse à la population d’origine ethiopienne et ceui pour les gens originaires de Balkans. On nous demande souvent pourquoi il s’agit de centres séparés. En fait, la communauté a d’abord besoin de renforcer son identité dans un promier temps.

Nous travaillons en étroite relation avec les autorités locales et municipales.

Le maire Bouskila dirige la ville, mais pas le Centre. Mon rôle est de l’aider car il ne comprend pas toujours les choses que je comprends. Seuls deux pancartes nous signalent au public. En réalité elles sont de trop car nos centres sont ouverts à tous et intégrés dans le tissu social de cette ville. Ce qui est important est que ceux qui y viennent y trouvent la réponse qu’ils recherchent. En quelque sorte, nous effaçons notre ego.

Nous avons un projet d’internat cvar la ville y gagnerait sur le plan économique. Ce genre de question est systématiquement soumis à la municipalité. L’argent vient de l’état, de fondations mais pas de la municipalité, ce que le maire comprend car il s’efforce que l’argent nous parvienne sans passer par ses caisses en déficit où il serait tentant qu’il y reste…

Je considère ce projet comme un défit personnel de toujours considérer le Maire et les autres partenaires en minorant mon propre rôle.

Léa travaille avec les handicapés du Centre Gevaim, d’ailleurs, ils sont physiquement présents à ses côtés. Gevaïm signifie Nuances. La maison des handicapés est leur première réalisation. Maison en hébreu est un concept qui englobe les notions de collectivité et de solidarité.

Son travail part d’une approche communautaire en les incluant dans le projet lui-même, y compris par son emplacement physique. Elle insiste sur le caractère totalement inclusif de l’associaiton. Il s’agit d’une action diversifiée sur l’ensemble du parcours de vie. Gvan signifie nuance et diversité.

L’art et le cinéma permettent la transmission de messages et la communication.

Sarit Abergel a 22 ans. Elle vient de dimona et est aveugle. Elle travaille dans un atelier protégé depuis 7 ans au département des emballages. Elle est très musicale, s’est produite dans une chorale au Canada. Elle travaille une fois par semaine en tant que prof de musique dans une école spécialisée. Elle s’occupe des activités sensorielles comme monitrice.

Son message insiste sur la nécessité sociale d’égalité et le fait que ” malgré nos difficultés, nous sommes capables d’apporter quelque chose à la communauté. Nous sommes des gens comme tout le monde et ne devons pas être stigmatisés.

Hagai s’occupe d’art. Dans ce domaine, dit-il, tout le monde est égal. Il est à l’origine de projets communautaires et s’occupe de l’atelier de sculpture ainsi que de cinéma.

took us to visit the region and strategic points. Showed us the Rockets display at the police station and the Iron Dome (anti-missile protection). Gave his narrative of the conflict and his Palestinian friend. Repeated what we had heard from Bouskila about the 15 seconds to decide which kids we have to prioritize in case of  rocket attack (red signal)

Lazar, Dany and Tsion, Nomika (2013), ‘Kol Aher, another voice’, paper given at JCall trip to Israel and Palestinian Territories, Tel Aviv.

Dany est né à Strasbourg. Son père a sauvé beaucoup de juifs pendant la guerre.

Son Kibboutz (Saad) est une émanation d’un autre kibboutz situé près de Hertzelya en 1947, dès les débuts de la guerre d’Indépendance..

Ils sont situés à 3,700 m de Gaza.

Hier soir (28 avril 2013), il y a eu une alerte mais il n’y a plus de victimes depuis 13 ans dans le Kiboutz.

Other Voice essaie de se faire entendre de l’autre côté de la frontière et de répondre au tirs de rockets par une autre action “car nous savons pertinemment que la violence ne mène à rien”. On l’exerce depuis toujours sans effet. Elle ne mène à rien d’autre qu’à hatiser la haine.

Nous n’avons pas la prétention de présenter une proposition politique originale. Nous voulons instaurer un dialogue. Ce n’est pas simple car le gouvernement du Hamas s’y oppose mais il existe des individus prêts à risquer leur vie à Gaza pour maintenir le dialogue. Les liens se passent par téléphone, e-mail et sms. Nous diffusions l’idée que la riposte (retaliation) ne mène à rien.

Il existe beaucoup d’organisations semblables en Israël, mais nous sommes dans la région et les premières cibles, ce qui nous donne une autre légitimité.

Au moment où on entend surtout les vois des extrémistes, nous cherchons à faire entendre une autre voix par téléphone depuis janvier 2008. Il s’agit de conversations en réseau.

Dans le kibboutz, il y a 200 familles religieuses (traditionnellement à droite).

La société israélienne devient de plus en plus violente depuis une dizaine d’années et on assiste à un véritable isolement social.

Nomika Tsion a publié un article dans le New York Review of Books, Not in my Name, dans lequel elle décrit la situation d’Aparth

eid dont elle a été le témoin. Elle parle de la banalité du mal. “Parler avec le Hamas sera compliqué mais on n’a pas le choix”. Israël s’est retiré de Gaza mais continue à l’occuper en maintenant un blocus maritime et terreste. Les premières victimes du Hamas sont ses propres habitants. Israël a refusé tout accord il y a 25 ans (à l’époque de Shlomi Eldar). Le gouvernement israélien aujourd’hui mène une politique extrémiste. La solution est simple: démonter les colonies et céer deux Etats.

Il est pratiquement impossible aux habitants de la bande de Gaza de sortir. Le blocus consitute une réponse violente qui ne mène à rien. Il suffirait de contrôler et aucun blocus ne serait nécessaire.

La frontière avec l’Egypte est encore ouverte mais le combat contre le traffic fait qu’en réalité, il s’agit d’un accès restreint par endroit.

Sans pression internationale, rien ne bougera.

Par ailleurs, à Gaza, le problème de l’eau, des déchets, autant de bombes à retardement de toute façon.

Kol Aher a 30 membres actifs et 250 synpathisants, notamment grâce à la Sapir University qui organise des rencontres.

“Pour la majorité des Israéliens, nous sommes des traitres. La réalité est qu’Israël a plus peur de la paix que des rockets. Le prix de plus lourd que nous payons est la capacité d’empathie. La chose la plus terrible est d’avoir rendu les Palestiniens invisibles. Lorsqu’une société perd cette capacité d’empathie, elle perd son humanité.

Nous avons besoin d’aide. Nous avons besoin de votre soutien.

Sharoni, Nathan (2013), ‘The two state solution is the only solution.’ paper given at JCall trip to Israel and Palestinian Territories, Tel Aviv. 

Hope you’ll meet on a conference next year with jewish communities from around the world to pressure to make the right move. Israel wants to make up its mind what country it wants to be. If it wants to remain a jewish state and a democracy, we need two countries.
before to get the negotiation issue, we should deal with the MiddleEast ridge. Arab leaders in the countries where spring took place and others have now discovered that they have to listen to the voice of the street. Up to then tendency was the opposite way. Change to quite an extent and it affects us.
We have to have a negotiation with the Palestinians. It will decrease the negative public opinion in arab countries vis-àvis israel. It doesn’t mean they’ll love us but it will reduce their level of hatred toward us. Israel with Suni arab countries. Common threat to countries in the gulf: Iranian influence. King Abadallah is afraid of Syirian situation penetrating into Jordan. Enough commun interest between us and the suni arab countries.
Dangers: there is no risk of what is being called in America an intensive war between arab countries and Israel. A yom kippour war’s chances are negligible if not 0. No such trheat in the forseable futurel Iran doesn’t have an expeditionary army to come and fight in our borders. Threat stands from groups: Hesbollah, Hamas, driven by AlQaida: missiles, rockets and terror. May cause dammage and casulty and money but not threat for existence.
Threat comes from Iranian nuclear capability. They have the capability to reach a nuclear weapon if they decide to do it. The issue is what is our estimation of whether they are going to use it or not. Personally, picking info where I can, I believe the Iranian leadership isn’t suicidal. It assumes that we do have a certain capablity, by far larger then theirs and if they think of using a nuclear weapon aginst Israel, the retaliation will be of a magnitude that makes it impossible for them to use it. We have to be ready to deter the iranians to use it. Attacking Israeli facilities from Israel, the glove is too big on our hand. America can do it. I hope that no one in Israel in a sane state of mind will launch that kind of attack as long as we don’t have a war declared against them. If we did so is that we open a war. With one missile a week they can paralyse Israel. No plane, no ships, no insurance in the world…When you open a war with a country 12 000 km away from us is a terribly risky issue. Wisdom of a very strong intelligence system and a wise leadership.
Strategic depth of the border. Palestinian State is no threat, will be demiliterized. Their airspace will be controled by Israel. All this was discussed and agreed upon ever though not in writing. Major 4 issues are Borders, Refugees, Jerusalem and Security.
Security: with the interest of Palestinian autority to exercise control over their population, things are being kept on a very low level.
Jerusalem issue I will not discuss.
Refugees: main interst for us to have a common denominator with suni countries is to provide a backing for Palestinian leaders by arab countries. These suni countries will replace what Mubarak once represented for them.
We should put a time limit to negotiations. We have been talking to oneanother for 19 years. If we are not able to reach an agreemenet with the Palesitinans to save ourselves from ourselves, we’ll need to make an unilateral withdrawal. But we have to maintain our integrity as a democratic and jewish state.
By doing it and removing some of the settlements and moveing the army from some of the territories, we will get a new legitimacy that if something goes wrong we’ll have the legitimacy to react.
How can you bring Abu Mazen to the negotiating table? Negotiations don’t take place out of love but out of necessity. We should trigger to create interest. He doesn’t believe us, we don’t believe him but we need an uncle who pushes us.
Unilateral Withdrawal: 25,000 familiesin all the territories incl. Jerusalem. So first we need a plan on how to move them from one place to another. A large number, with proper compensation, is ready to move. A small group won’t want to move, so don’t move, stay where you are! We have to think in terms of how the move will take place.
3 major blocks and one small block..
How about the Hamas: Hamas is basically a probelm of Abu Mazen. Our problem is the activity of the Hamas. We already negotiated with the Hamas when we had to and when they had to. Hamas will never become zionist, but it had created a state in Gaza, with a governement, with institutions. The tendency and interest is to keep governing, so to that end, they will move to the profit of Abu Mazen. If they become a problem, we’ll have to act: we could move into force into Gaza. Do we want to do it and does it help on a larger scale? How is it being perceived by Arab negotitions? tHERE ISN’t a full proof solution and in many cases it’s a trial and error.
We’ll have to go step by step. Arab kingdoms are pouring money into terrorist organisation to protect themselves, but their interest is to stay strong against Iran.
It boild down again to leadership.
It’s our job to convince the Israeli public. Even there, there is a split of opinion. You should ask to meet our leadership, talk to them about the diaspora feeling.
We will never recognize the right of return because that’s the end of Israel.
Token number as a sign of good will.

Nati (Nathan Sharoni) avait raison sauf sur un point…celle de la quesiton iranienne. J’appartiens à une école qui ne croit pas à la rationalité de Rafsanjani.
Le fait que les Iraniens ont la bombe signifie principalement que tout le monde l’aura et qu’il faudra apprendre à vivre avec un proche-orient nucléarisé.
Nous sommes dans une situation inédite dans les annales des conflits. Consensus international absolu, largement admis par les opionions publiques des partis en conflits, israeliens et palestinionens pour un règmment rationnel. D’un côté le monde entier y compris peuples…Minorité extrémiste qui dicte leur loi par le système démocratique tant en Israel que pour le Hamas.
Governemnt qui peut apporter un progrès socio-éco, mais un gouvernment de colons. Les rênes du pouvoir sont dans la main de la droite dure. Le likoud est devenu un parti d’extrême droite. Govuernment qui met en danger la survie non pas physique du pays, mais de mort politique, spirituelle. Sa raison d’être juif et démocratique.
Choix entre Etat binational ou apartheid. C’est une alternative théorique. Il n’y aura jamais un état binational. Il s’agit d’un choix entre maitre-ilote ou état démocratique.
Parallèle avec les colons pied-noirs. La fenêtre d’opportunité se rétrécit. Un an, deux, cinq ans tout au plus.
Alternative n’est pas nécessairement la paix, mais la fin de l’occupation. Je ne suis pas sur que la paix soit possible, pas sûr qu’il y ait avec qui faire la paix, mais je sais que la fin de l’occupation est nécessaire, par le biais d’un accord quelconque. D’une manière ou d’une autre il faut libérer les territoires, pour nous libéere de ceux ci.
Diaspora ne comprend pas où se trouve son intérêt. JCall a été créé pour que le gouvenrment ici comprenne que les juifs de la diaspora ne sont pas d’accord avec l’annihilation du projet sioniste.
Idee: Séminaire de ministres européens pour produire un non-paper.
Soutient de JCall essentiel et il reste de l’espoir.
Question sur les ultra-religieux: la question du retrait des implantations marquera la fin de leur suprématie. Nous avons aussi notre Hamas.

 

Arieli, Shaul (2013), ‘Israel Peace Initiative’, paper given at JCall trip to Israel and Palestinian Territories, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, April 27th and May 2nd.

 2002 Saoudi King came up with a peace solution, rectified by arab league. Saoudi plan was: sit down with Palestinians, withdraw from all conquered territories and let the feugees return by UN Decision 194 BY A MUTUAL AGREEMENT. Wording was very carefully worded. Palestinians never dealt with it.

A group of Israeli businessmen decided to come up with an IPI. first had to be sold to arab leadership. They met with everybody and talked to everybody. Mirror image of what Saoudi said with slight modifications. We want to focus the people of Israel on the plan. Now we start working very hard to sell it to Israel as well.

Tour of Jerusalem on Thursday and a clear vision of the “ring&lock” strategy to prevent a continuity of Palestinian territories by implementing settlements, outposts, legal or illegal. Visit to Schmuel Tomb, Mount Scopus and Mount of Olives.

Jacobson (2013), ‘Forum of NGO for peace’, paper given at JCall trip to Israel and Palestinian Territories, Tel Aviv. 

since 6 years. iSRAELI PALESTINIAN PEACE FORUM to consolidate the NGOs in Palestine and provide them with resources. Mainly occupied to serve the various orgainsitions for 2-3 years. We understood that we needed an umbrella organization with a political message. Forum consists of 50 israel and 35 palestinian NGOs. Symetry in the decision making process. Different sizes and agendas (religion, enverionment, education). Survival of Israel is the 2 state soultion is commun denominator.
Forum acts together in a joint steering committee and acts separately.
Jerusalem committee etc.
Quite a number of joint activities, In Jericho in winter. Antinormalizaton movment is an obstacle, But on the lower level of NGOs, there are a lot of things going together with trust being established between sides. Still a number of problems, but not so bad.
Main function as a forum is towards to the world community and internally. We are trying to see what is moving the Israeli society and the psychological resistence in Isreali society towards a peace settlement.
Collective paranoia in israeli society creates political behaviour and fear of change.
Same about palestinian traumas.
We are in contact with the world community: EU, USA, Latin America
after so many years of conflict, there isn’t enough internal energy. We need a greater involvement of the world community if we want to make progress.
The world, by and large, are sick and tired: let them bleed to death! We NEED their involvement
Arab league initiative needs pressure from below to suggest to European Govenrment to give their logistical basis for a large scale assembly of ARI and IPI
This cannot be disregarded by the Israli goverment.
It’s hard to work against a relatively comfortable status quo.

overview of what is Givat Haviva, our history and mission . We share the same values with you. Built in 1949. This beautifu green campus was a british army base in the desert. The land belonged to kibboutz Maanit which belonged to the Hachomer Hatsaïr. This kibboutz had a member, Haviva Right was a relative to a song writer. She was killed by the Nazis. She was dedicated to values Israel should have kept till today. This center is dedicated to her legacy. 3 MAJOR VALUES: Zionism, socialism and brotherhood of all people. There isn’t any zionism without the other two components. We see ourselves as zionists. This center was built one year before the Independence. 5 Centers have been working here since the origins.

Jewish Arab Center for peace

1963 founding of this center to teach arabic. To live together we should understand each others.

During the years, we divelopted many programs based on coexistence (MISSION) based on dialogue.(TOOLS)

Learning about the narrative of each others.

In the last 4 years, we understood this isn’t good enough. We viewed that we had a very minor impact in Israel. Stream went exactly the opposite way. We read scholars from Haifa University (Daniel Bar-tal) and they were telling us this concept wasn’t going to have an impact. So we developed new perspectives.

MISSION: Instead of speaking of coexistence, we decided to speak of Shared Society. Each should sustain the uniqueness of its nature but building on a partnership as citizens living in Israel.

Tools: instead of dialogue which meant understand and respect the difference, we decided to ACT together. Programme based on doing together thing which helps creating a partnership of sustainable society.

PROGRAMME: Advocacy for a change through political change and government. Let’s educate to better connect. If you don’t know the people, that helps hatred to grow and we don’t want to live with each other (66% of Israeli population).

We can’t leave the society. So our decision was to base our action on the community. We’d create partnership between neighbouring communities that normally in Israel wouldn’t have anything to do with each other: “shared communities” (Kfar-Koufar Qara, 17000 arab citizens connect to Pardess Hannah 10 mn away from KK 30000 citizens). 5 goals for our vision of influence:

influence community itself for more tolerance and respecting of the other community and develop community skills

Connection between the two through several field, To make them good neighbours

Whole region: two mayors committed to each other can make change to the region regarding police, fire, border, tourism, economical mechanisms as an echo.

National level: we’ll create a network of partnership throughout all of Israel. This will change the national discourse. To see their neighbours as partners and not enemies.

We believe that can sustain Israel and Democracy and use peace.

20 very important french Immams came to Givat Haviva and asked us to come and teach them this model in France. We want this model to be used worldwide.

5 parameters for this programme:

has to be a long term community programme (4 years)

multigenerational programme (from 10 to 80, genders and all components of community)

wholistic programme not just education (culture, arts too)

top-down and bottom up programme: boned programme: face-to-face. New language, we work with the mayors. Top officials in the communities are part of the same steering committee.

critical mass of activities in one place: 3000 teenagers go through the programme. they come back convinced, but their relatives aren’t convinced. Eventually it’s like taking a full spoon of sugar into the dead sea. If each member of the family is involved, this makes a critical mass which actually makes a change.

12 programmes at once (4 kids, 4 women, 4 senior citizens) and the talk around is starting to change.

Males are not directly targetted by the programme because women are more enthusiastic at getting together. Empowerment (cooking for peace, meeting special recipes of our tradition in order to give who we are, then after cooking we sit and talk about how women can bring up change in the country, a women programme for health: how to save life when there’s an emergency crisis and hiking the region in order to learn about the region through the eyes of the others

Business entrepreneurship should include men, but so far no specific programme.

Funding of the programme: we received support from an American Foundation, now we have 3 pairs, but we need further funding.

Vision for the main sponsor, we are aiming at the Israeli government. This programme has been adopted by the Council for Local Municipalities as a best practice model. The government stopped funding by mid-year but the new minister gave us reasons to hope.

Marriages in this region: this happens, but this isn’t in our aim as we want both parts to keep their identities.

I was asked to come to jewish school to explain about the Arabs. You become a bridge in GH, you open curiosity box of young people.
First school I went to speak to, I noticed on the desk of a 14 year old desk, grafitti, of magen david and Israeli flag and I began to realize even with my 5 children, at the age of 4 in kindergarten, they are drawing the flag of Israel. This creates identity, nationalism. So I took my welsh flag to ask them to draw my flag. I only saw that flag on someone died, in a rugby match, when the queen came to her castle. This is one of the many points of discussion: the flag of the country, do you see yourself represented in the country flag if you are an arab.
I’m a zionist and not asking to change this flag. I left Wales because of antisemitism. In Wales Jesus Christ story: Lidya, tomorrow, it’s our Lord Jesus Birth. Lydia come and tell your comrades how your family kill Christ. 
I’m trying to make a difference in this country, not only because I’m an old hippy, but to make a change for Israel in the future.

I am an israeli and I know more about religion than Yaniv. I am from Barqa village. I am the director of the Jewish arab center. I came here to volunteer and then worked here until I became a mayor for 5 years and came back to GH.
1,5 million arab israeli. Ici depuis 1948. Les palestiniens sont sous occupation depuis 1967 mais ne sont pas Israéliens comme moi. Ce qui nous caractérise est que nous sommes une minorité autochtone. Ce sont les juifs qui sont les immigrés ici. Nous sommes la minorité la plus réaliste de la région : nous disons aux palestiniens arrêtez de réver à jeter les israéliens à la mer et aux israéliens arrêtez de rêver et rendez les territoires occupés. Nous avons été citoyens mais nous vivions jusqu’en 1961-62 Pendant les guerre aucun acte de violence commis par des arabes israéliens. Je ne souhaite à aucune minorité notre situation d’avoir une fidélité à un état qui est en guerre contre la minorité à laquelle nous appartenons.
Notre identité double d’israéliens et palestiniens s’est éveillée après la première guerre du Liban qui a opposé Israël directement aux Palestiniens. Là s’est réveillé notre identité, surtout avec la vague d’immigration des russes qui a entrainé un racisme inconnu auparavant.
Nous avons un statut égal dans société israélienne, les mêmes droits mais nous nous sentons des citoyens de seconde classe. Objectif: égalité et notre communauté. Nous nous battons au sein de 3 partis politiques (Hadach israélo-palestinienne et deux autres seulement arabes). Plus ce processus marche plus forte est notre identité israélienne. 2 peuples et deux Etats. Ce jour là nous deviendrons une minorité comme vous l’êtes dans votre diaspora. Israël est notre patrie comme la France est la votre. Citoyens israéliens avec des attaches avec l’Etat Palestinien avec lequel nous serions en paix.
La solution 2Peuples 2Etat est la seule viable car nous “barouch hachem”, nous faisons plus d’enfants puisque nous pouvons nous marier plusieurs fois et donc à long terme ce serait au détriment de la société israélienne juive.
Je pense que c’est le moment de faire la paix. La génération de mon père a connu le gouvernement militaire, s’est faite prendre sa terre et a eu peur. Ma génération a découvert a culture juive et la société israélienne. Mon fils aspire aux mêmes choses que les autres jeunes israéliens et ne se contentera pas d’un statut de seconde classe.

Négev Bédouins, Centre Musulmans, Druze chrétiens et musulmans en Galilée 20% de la population. Nous travaillons, nous sommes bien intégrés et comme les israéliens nous voulons que nos enfants soient médecins ou avocats.
30% des médecins israéliens sont arabes.
Nous sommes très forts en foot (Sahtine est le champion d’Israël, ils joueront contre le Betar Jerusalem. 3 footballers arabes israéliens jouent dans l’équipe du portugal, équipe que suit la population israélienne pour cette raison)
Ceux qui réussisent parmi nous sont acceptés…comme c’est le cas dans le monde!
Religion? sur les 20% d’arabers israéliens, 80% sont musulmans. mOUVEMENT Islamiste s’est développé depuis la Journée de la Terre en 1985. Il se développe dans deux direction. Le groupe du nord, les gens ne votent pas et ne sont pas représentés à la Knesset. Dans le sud, deux députés islamistes. Je prie 5 fois par jours mais je ne me considère pas comme religieux. Ma femme est allée à l’école juive, ma fille ne porte pas le voile, mon fils est avocat et n’est pas religieux.
LIEN DE SOLIDARITE entre les israéliens pauvres et les palestiniens? agriculture et industrie jusqu’en 48. après la guerre, nous avons perdu nos terres donc notre subsistance. On les a expulsés. Jusqu’en 67 difficultés à circuler mais maintenant
Am Israel Hai: Les arabes construisent et les Juifs israéliens vivent et les druzes gardent.
4 fois plus de pauvres parmi les arabes que par rapport aux juifs. Mais si on compare notre situation socio-eco est bien meilleure que la plupart des arabes de par le monde. Mais pour obtenir des subventions c’est un peu plus dûr pour nous.
Session des questions:
Nous avons participé dans les manifs de 2011 mais nous sommes globalement déçus par l’Etat car bien que représentés à la Knesset (dans le Meretz et dans les partis arabes), notre situation n’a pas vraiment vu d’amélioration.
La majorité des Israéliens arabes sont optimistes comme je le suis. Mais on a aussi des critique à l’égard de l’Etat mais nous avons aussi des critiques sur nous-mêmes car nous n’aimons pas les critiques. Nous ne contestons pas que l’hébreu soit la langue majoritaire, mais nous avons aussi du désespoir car lorsque des attentats atteignent des palestiniens, nous déplorons les lois racistes.
Dans quelles instances êtes-vous traités comme citoyens de second zone? Nous n’avons pas le contrôle de la terre. Nous avons voté pour Rabin et nous sommes senti bien depuis Oslo. Je peux avoir n’importe quel travail, mais à diplôme égal je dois être meilleur que le juif pour décrocher un job. Mais souvent ce sont les juifs qui parlent en totre nom. Nous devons parler nous-mêmes. Je serai en France autour du 10 juin 2013 pour une réunion de maires juifs et arabes.

Palestinian Arabs situation.
Current situation of the PA Community and future anticipations regarding our communitiy and our relations with the Israeli
Indigenous population. 20% of total population. Mostly living in small town and villages. Most of us are educated in a separate educational system. Most of the arab schools are run by Israeli minitry of Education. All the arab communities are in the bottom of the social ladder. 40% between the age of 1 to 25. Average of 3 to 4 kids. In the Negev 5-6. Our community has a majority of Muslems, but we have christian and druze minorites. Most Palestinians became refugees after 1948 and 20% of the total palestinian population remained in their home. 48-60s, we were run by Military rule and passes. after 1967, a new era started for Palestinians in Israel till the Oslo agreement. The political leadership made two claims: 2STATE SOLUTION and Civil rights within our own community.
Lots of people wanted us to be a bridge for peace…but it didn’t happen. 2nd Intifada, young people in our community protested and 13 were killed. 2006, second war on Lebanon. Hezbollah missiles were shooting at Gallil in general and us as weell. All the casulties were from our community. This absurd situation made us think that we don’t have any back up from the PLO, international community, arab world and our state. New voices became strong within us. We need to be proactive. We need to come up with activist initiative to talk with the State about our citizenship. I’m naturally palestinian. I don’t know how to organize my community to affect the decision making in the satate. We need to professionalize our institution more and more. Lots of changes: 3 major groups: youth (20-35) is the majority, very affected by globalization and social media, Women (get more and more into public sphere, for example 52% of BA, more and more in academia, NGOs, business at management level, in culture and art, a similar way as in the Arab world.and final group, the Leadership (two major voices: a traditional voice, people from old school combatting on the prejudice and racism ground, an approach which I respect but also new leadership: reality is something you as a community can change if you professionalize yourself and get a collectiv agenda on what you want . I will participate in the next elections. I don’t represent anybody but myself.
Employers should be subsidized to employ more arabs. Educational system in arab communities is very low. Good people come from private schools…Goverment budget is very low for Palestinian schools. My nationality is Palestinian. my mothertongue is arabic, we were forced to sing the tikva, it bothered me. My culture is moslem.
Arab community is very divided, one state solution, two state solution, communist political school, pragmatic approach, islamic movement divided into two: israel is our state and we need to have a dialogue with them and one is more fundamentalist waiting for the Islamic Califate.In the last couple of years, pressure from Israeli institution to enroll in the army to get better life opportunity. But we look at the Druze. Now, for a civil service, I agree but I claim that the State has to give me my citizens rights.
I’m a secular moslem, I need to be free to do what I want. Regarding the islamization in the arab world, In general it’s a world trend to getting back to tradition and conservatism. but in the long run, things will change. Look at women in Saudi Kingdom.

AT THE DARWISH CENTRE

Casualties of palestine attacked and detained by the Occupying Power and Settlers. Settlers cut trees. All and much more contribute to the prolongation of conflict, deepening hatred. Those interested in seeing end to the conflict and justice, what’s their role in the face of these provocation. No one can claim they don’t know. Israeli newspapers and TV clearly show all this. So everything is in the open. See or read what comes from the Israeli themselves. The coalition of the Knesset is based on who is the most brutal towards the Palestinians  New law that makes it impossible to pass any agreement with Palestinian in the name of the security. The security of the Israelis is important but in the Palestinian territory there shouldn’t be any Israeli soldiers, but this was rejected which continues the occupation, something unacceptable for Palestinian. We accepted to have only 22% of our historic land as long as it’s sovereign and continuous. Meet the Europeans which are interested in the stability of this region. Each has to take his own responsibilities and to address the state which is still wrong doing. Israel is a democratic country. The Palestinians in the west of Jordan will soon be more than Israelis. Our role is to make sure that justice is prevailing.

starts where abdallah ended. We made an extraordinary compromise on the land which used to be theirs. All what remains from my own village is its church built by my grand-father. For us to make this compromise that we accept less than 22% is that we have a viable, continuous and that the green line is actually a red line. East of green line, almost one million colonizers. French use the right term with colonies and not settlements.
STATUS OF JERUSALEM

A war crime and ethnic cleanising is taking place
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER NOV 2012 and palestinian statehood at the UN ON The 1967 borders which is accepted as the Palestinian borders. We have a new situation. I caution those 1 million colons and their infrastructures which are contradicting international law. We’ll see action taken against them in the International Criminal courts as they took our land on the ground of security.
I want security for myself but also for my neighbour. Israelis should realize and do the same thing. Pretext of security is actually an excuse for land grabbing and Jerusalem is an integral part of the issue.

Welcome. Shakes hands with all the 20 members of the delegation. We are greeted with lebanese delights.

Listens to Gérard Hunger explaining and presenting JCall (combatting settlements in the West bank and convincing our governments to adopt our position and adopt a peaceful solution. Since 2010 we created our organization and are sustained by various MPs. Here to discuss with various personalities. How can we be efficient?

Speech

We have a lot in common, we are together to obtain peace with our israeli neignbours. complete peace, justice for all and security concerns not only the israeli but us as well.

Within these broad parameters, a solution can be found. All that is required is the recognition of the inevitability of the coexistence of the inhabitants. Inevitability of the emergence of the State of Palestine.

Freedom for all inhabitants to pursue happiness as like all people from all over the world. Until then, the risk is continuing. It’s a rough neighbourhood.

Status quoi cannot be sustained and the sooner we get to the point that it is understood by people on both sides we know where we are going the better. I’m convinced that the State of Palestine will happen. But there is a lot of conditions. If we build a state, we need to project its reality on the ground. We need to provide adequately and comfortably services that people need. High standards of the world have to be met.

Not only are we required to build our state, but given the history of this conflict and the international mindset, there is no going around the statehood and its high standards even at the sacrifice of our people.

For that we need all support from all parts. You need to attend this.

What kind of state do we want to achieve? We want to meet the universal standards. Contents really matters, values on which to found the State, this program started with a vision in 2009 of what we want: a state, justice, coexistence and freedom.

Almost like a constitution and we projected it sectorally bottom up to ensure that each segment of governance is consistent with the standards . We got a recognition of success in Brussels in 2011 with the IMF, World Bank and UN certified reports that Palestine had met the criteria.

Politically we still needed to make our case that although we have the full rights, we still need to qualify for the Statehood.

Universtal recognition but set of conditions: need for Palestinians to prove that they are worth it. If a good government is a qualification for freedom I have a list of governments who do not qualify. It is not a fair test. Is good governance good or bad for us, if it is , let’s just do it.

Major aspirations behind this were political. We had already started before and it was suppose to bring about the creation of a mindset of possibility.

Hope as opposed to hopelessness, can do spirit instead of belligerence. Choices were clear and right choices were very obvious. The only way to get a state is to aspire ourselves to build in the face of adversity. We have the full right to resist but it-s important to focus on the real notion of resistance. Defining resistance to mean good services, security. The highest form of resistance is what you do to resist violence.

Right to good education, healthcare. We win everytime we have electricity, clear water and build our statehoood. Details matter. If we don’t have these things and don’t create an environment which is hospitable, people will leave. It’s my firm view that if we act as a state, we are actually one.

if we really succeed, it’s going to be easier for political leadership in Israel to accept us. Little achievement so far, completely insignificant success. I failed to convice the international partners.

IMF recognition was a great achievement for us when only 70 countries actually do qualify I still thought it wasn-t good enough.

What happened there is significant: seeking to excel. We got there. Politically we have to translate this yet.
My message to you is the same that I tell to my countrymen: I don’t know how long it will take but I know this will happen. We should think that it’s a longer rather than shorter term, but still prepare that it happens sooner than you think.

Our Task is to minimize the occurrence of dramatic things. We have to ensure that we are on the playing team and not on the benches.

Berlin one day before the wall came down. Went to East Berlin. Check point and how quiet it was. Security was very serious, monopoly money, but struck by devastatingly quiet, irreally so. Nothing came close to remotely suggest that the wall would come down one year later.

When did the first drop get into that bottle, what drop counts? The important thing is for us to position ourselves. We don’t have to complain or cry no matter how legitimate it is. We have to transform ourselves in a people of doers.

I know you press for the 2 state solution, but that’s a huge undertaking. Details matter. issues related to basic rights, right to life issues must be addressed.l Until we can guarantee other rights, it’s essential.

Our people being able to access drinking water when drinking water exists. Lack of access to drinking water (example of the Jordan). huge water pipleline going to feed the settlement without our people accessing it…the worst it comes from a Palestinian spring. Water tanks are being confiscated by the Israeli army. Anything adverse is explained in terms of security by the Israelis.

Mega projects are one thing but let’s first make sure we have the basics. That must happen, we have to talk to each other and in parallel go paying attention to day to day issues. the question of numbers shouldn’t count.

The way the Israeli army deals with non violent protests. It should not be dealt with inappropriate weapons. Sometimes these people die. Today a Palestinian and a settler were killed south of Nablus, but otherwise this has been an extremely good period of calm. Non violence is key. Let’s avoid violence, settlers’ violence. Stop demolition by settlers.

Foundation for the recreation of a sense of hope both for Israelis and Palestinians. No one can be OK if their neighbor isn’t. Sense of oneness. I believe in the strength of people of good will like you, with a heart to recreate that hope and sense of possibility that will make this region different one day

Q AND A

Henry questions: on a daily operation we try to create more confidence between people: triangle with municipalities for example. We still face one problem is that the Palestinian municipality says no.

R: we are already doing it and are involved in it and several municipalities cooperate such as the north and Jenin area, even bilateral without an international presence. I can contribute to giving you contacts.

FRANCOIS: Does palestinian situation survive in the international eCo crisis.

R: not much effect. Beginning 2010 drop of an aid and then we started having problems. money didn’t come in a way consistent with budget. Private sector didn’t invest more due to the context (area C, in charge of people everywhere even without eco activity) and eco crisis contributed to the slow down, simple slow down as we keep growing. We trying to decrease our deficit further. Not satisfactory yet. Eco should grow in double digit if we are allowed to be next door to a large eco and have access to export. We have the fundamentals and the regulatory framework but we need the context and end of eco crisis.

DAVID CALEF: after his resignation what will happen. It will be Very difficult for someone else. we are still going to be under scrutiny. It’s however impossible to undo what I’ve done. I believe this will prove

US GOVERMENT (DAVID): Let s wait and see. Even when they were no negotiations, we were engaged in conversation,. Europe should get involved as well. I think it’s important for you to act now. We all now have something to fall back on it’s no longer status quo ante as we have progressed.

We started the peace process with Israelis as a quantum leap but it didn’t result in qualitative leap. This peace process was not peace nor process. Palestinians felt they were on the table and not at the table. Many challenges for peace process but it remains essential and we need a jump start for it. Art of delaying the inevitability. Inevitable is the living together of Israelis and Palestinians.

I decided that instead of cursing darkness, let’s find a candle. Our centre is Agape, harmony, to help solve conflicts in our society. We are trying to do so among ourselves and using non-violent conflict tranflormation. 

Jerusalem arbitration center to solve conflicts in the communities. We had training there and in Washington DC. But this all stopped since the deteriorationl Anyhow, we ontinued to work in the palestinian circles and we try to help young people to use their anger in more constructive ways instead of competing to victimated.

We work with the use in one way or another through other conflicting areas such as South Africa, Northern Island, Balkans, Koreas, to have lessons learnt from those who made it or those who are still thriving to make it.

We don’t want them again to feel lonely. Programs also for women as our society is still patriarchical. We are working on resolution 1325 and gender equality. In the desert we didn’t need to ask women for direction but now we do.

No post-trauma but trauma still.

Most of the children have nightmares, bad achievement at school, all subject to trauma and paranoïa. All stress-related sicknesses.

International programs (Canada, Japan, Europe…) where israelis are also present.

Call for hope at a time of hopelessness and helplessness.

We are against occupation but work nonviolently.

We are here because 150 years before Zionism, we already understood. I have Friends of all confessions. We need shelter and equal citizenship.

Jews and Arabs won’t live together. Borders bring enemies, not friends. Jerusalem is a microcosm of Jews and Arabs living together.

I respect your ideas. You are welcome to become citizens. We have a problem with Islam and the Arab world. There are 8 million citizens in Israël and 6 million jews . Sometimes you shiver when you realize this number (corresponds to Shoah Jews decimated, drm note). We have to find a way to convince the Psalestinians. The Palestinian Israeli citizens are insulted when we tell them they are a demographic problem. Conflict has to come to an end.

Dividing Jerusalem? God Forbid!

We can fulfill the dream of living together. With 12 million jews, no one would put the two State-Solution on the table! The two state solution will worsen the conflict.

I accept that they don’t sing the national anthem. We can manage to live together with full citizenship, there’s no other way.

I’m a new member of Knesset. We won 19 seats.

We are representing the majority of Israelis who do not feel at any extreme. The focus of our platform this election was on domestic issues (equality in services etc…). If you want to get some subsidies, you need to give your kids some tools (english, maths, computer science). The main issues of the elections were domestic (education, health), BUT we were clear about the foreign affairs. We are for a two states solution, although it’s clear that the topic didn’t dominate the campaign. We didn’t get to the point of details in terms of borders and the number of settlers because we wanted to keep this for the negotiating table. We demanded the Government to stat the negotiations without precondition.

But politically, we are far from Peace Now.

We don^’t believe in a unilateral approach.

I was the personal assistant of Yitzhak Rabin who appointed me to deal with the peace talks with Syria. The principles of how to conduct negotiations are similar. A mutual approach is important. Most of the Israelis will support this two states solution. The critical part is to be able to build mutual trust.

Blaming was the usual vicious circle tool.

At the practical level, there is a partner, although I see their speeches as somehow different. The Palestinian Authority, of course, but I’m not sure how they’ll bring the issue? Settlers are part of the Israeli population, but there are some extremists. These are not the majority. Most of the settlers are reasonable people. We have to have empathy towards them. They need to see a benefit.

Unfortunately, the title Peace is very vague.

I’m giving them the credit but they are reasonable.

To my question about trilateral negotiations (Government, Palestinians and Settlers), Answer: For me, trilateral means Hamas. I hope we’ll face ASAP the housing issue.

Gallil and Negev can certainly acommodate them.

Il n’y a pas d’alternative. Je ne comprends pas la logique d’annexer les territoires et alors, que faire des Palestieniens? Les Palestieniens souhaitent avoir leur propre Etat.

Il y a eu une proposition très concrète par la ligue arabe sur ce dossier. Nous aussi pensons qu’il faut évoluer.

Par Palestine, on parle de la Cisjordanie et de Gaza. Pour Abou Mazen, bien que né à Safed, il estime qu?”en tant que réfugié, je veux retourner à ma ville natale comme touriste. Pour avoir dit cela, on a brûlé son effigie à Gaza. On a un véritable partenaire. Ces quatre dernières années, on a assisté à la baisse du terrorisme. Ceux qui les attrapent, ce sont les policiers palestiniens.

Abu Mazen est fiable, modéré et laïc…mais pas jeune! Qui va le remplacer? Notre intérêt comme Israéliens est de préserver et renforcer l’autorité Palestinienne. A quelle date, . quel horizon, selon quel plan? Il est essentiel de renforcer le processus diplomatique. On garde les blocs, mais le reste formera l’Etat Palestinien. On peut tout faire s’il y avait de la bonne volonté. Si la position est de rien donner, pourquoi se mettre à la table des négociations? Certes c’est dur pour les colons, mais c’est inévitable. Entre la Méditerranée et le Jourdain, il y a 14 millions de juifs et d’arabes à moitié égale et il n’est pas aisé de diviser le pays. Hier, un juif a été tué. Des arabes sont tués tout le temps. Cette situation ne peut pas durer. POur éviter cette guerre qui va arriver si on ne fait rien, il faut faire un travail, parler au gens, publier dans les média. Lors des récentes élections, la dirigeante du Parti Travailliste a décidé d’ignorer la question israélo-palestinienne, cela ne facilite pas la tâche. J’espère qu’elle va changer et se confronter au sujet. La visite d’Obama est très importante. Avec John Kerry et la Ligue Arabe, Tsipi Livni est en charge du dossier sur des positions proches de la notre.

Dites à vos communautés que lutter pour la paix, c’est lutter en faveur d’Israël. Rapportez-leur notre message en tant que députés à la Knesset. Ce n’est pas antisémite, mais au contraire, c’est essentiel.

Vous av ez la responsabilité dans vos communautés, fae aux ambasadeurs.

Je viens de rencontrer un mouvement juif réformé et leur ai dit de faire passer ce message que nous voulons la paix car c’est dans notre intérêt. Certes, la communauté américaine est plus forte, mais vous avez un rôle à jouer.

A Cheikh Jarach, il y aura une manifestation des membres du Méretz pour manifester notre soutien aux populations Palestiniennes.

Deux ou trois sièges suffisent ici pour faire passer le gouvernement d’un bord à l’autre.

Question: Pourquoi ne pas prendre Netanyahu au mot et organiser un référendum?

Nos elections sont les plus démocratiques car elles se déroulent à la proportionnelle intégrale. Ici, tout le monde est représenté au parlement. Notre Cour Suprême est une vraie cour suprême. Elle a le droit d’annuler les lois du Parlement.

Je vais être candidat à la Mairie de Tel Aviv.

Dès qu’on aura l’accord, on aura la majorité.

Bargouti a été condamné 5 fois à vie. Or il constitue la succession d’Abou Mazen. Il n’y a aucun doute qu’il sera libéré.

Question: La gauche va-t-elle reprendre en charge le problème social?

I fought for Israeli security most of my life. I had two enforce the Fence. I wasn’t happy to do it, but had no choice.

I could see that the Palestinians in their majority want peace. So do 70% of the Israelis. We signed good agreements. On security, I wish I had the confidence of the Meretz although I agree with them on anything else. I fear that the Palestinian leaders don’t have street backing. Arafat never gave up the fighter narrative.

Unlike him, Fayad and Abou Mazen are good people but with no power.

Obama’s visit gave a momentum, but was clear: “don’t negotiate just to negotiate”

If there is any solution, it will come from the Arabs.

I thing our present government is a good one. For once in a long time, we can counter-act the religious parties.

On Syira, I won’t wait if I see any mov ements of weapons but not Israel.

Most of the blame is on the other part (Palestinians)

Yet, I’m ready to take the risk to give some of th eland, swap some of the lamp and find a solution for Israel!

Mon grand-père maternel déporté, ancien colonel, ne m’avait rien laissé comme patrimoine culturel. Du coté paternel, juifs d’algérie. J’ai du tout redécouvrir j’étais un a-alphabet. Je n’arrivais pas à me mettre en tête que les ancêtres étaient les gaulois.
Mon copain mère de Kiryat Arba m’a fait venir. J’ai intégré le parti ouvrier istraélien et fondé Le Judaisme Rouge. Le rav cook m’a tourné la tête. Je suis venu en tant que réanimateur d’un policier qui en essayant de désamorcer une bombe. Je découvre ce qu’on a appelé les implantations. Je pensais encore rentrer en France. Je découvre Kyriat Arba, je découvre en face de la maison que j’occupe maintenant, il y a l’histoire juive: Abraham, l’homme qui fait qu’un peuple aspire à un terroir, Homme et Terre Adam et Adama. Osmose de la rencontre. Conjugaison à la base de la conjugalité. Juillet 79 au sein d’un terroir, d’un peuple, d’une culture que je ne connaissais pas pour objectiviser mon analphabétisme, la bible en main. Rony est le prénom que je me suis choisie. Les jardins de lenotre ne sont pas les miens. Celui que j’arrose aujourd’hui l’est.
Il faut se battre pour cela. Vous avez devant vous un personnage qui a traversé les méandres de l’histoire et en se battant. ADAM (Avraham, David et Moshe).

Grew up in Goush Etsion. My family and 5 kids have lived here for many years, 43. 20,000 Residents, from ultraorthodox to non-religions. 20 COMMUNITIES from Jerusalem to Hebron, mixed communities. Different education institutions. Tolerant for all people of all walks of life, We are here to stay here. Half the population are still under 20. Special in Gush Etsion for its history and martyrs. To live a normal life like everyone in the world. Some palestinians work and shop with us and live a regular life. Other villages further away are not that peaceful. IDF has to take care of the security problems. We got used to live this way on a daily basis. In my view, our future, is to stay here forever. But the real solution does not exist yet. Two solutions: arabs have to recognize to the legitimate the existence of Israel and stop the terror. If these two conditions are not accepted, no way to negotiate anything. THIS is our homeland. We saw what happened when we left gaza. We definitely can’t give the arabs to control these areas. Only solution is to live together with us in peace. One state for two people, we will give them autonomy but not the citizenship. To be a jew is very special, but we cannot let any arab to control the control. We are not trying to put them in reservation the way the Americans did or the Australians. The Israeli arabs vote but that’s already a mistake. In my view, there’s something unique about the jewish nation. We cannot live any other way in our Jewish State. no other option. I don’t care what’s happening to Jews in other countries (in reply to the question what would you think if the Jews in France were submitted to the same autonomy no vote situation).
Q: your point of view is creating a divide from the Diaspora. our kids won’t identify with what you present to us. R: IF your kids want to be part of the Jewish nation, then they’ll see what’s right.

Je m’excuse de me contenter d’aimer le francais sans le parler. Demander à un poète de ne pas parler sa langue c’est l’enfer. Bonne fête du 1er mai. Je le dis sérieusement. Je crois vraiment à la vision socialiste. Malgré le fait qu’on dise que celui qui n’a pas été socialiste jeune est un salaud et que celui qui le reste lorsqu’il est vieux est un idiot, je veux rester un idiot.
Bien qu’optimiste de nature je m’inquite encore plus dque vous. Ce que me dérange surtout c’est l’absence de vision pour l’avenir en Israel. Cette capacité des Israéliens d’improviser on l’apprend dans le monde entier. Depuis la grand crise d’Israel que fut la guerre de Kipour dont on fête les 40 ans, cela nous ramène à la Shoah qui peut se reproduire. Crainte permanent d’être détruit nous empêche la vision à long terme.
Je parle presque au quotidien avec les officiers et l’ujn d’êux m’a parlé d’un programme satyrique, que la terre est belle dans laquelle les personnalités israéliennes viennent. Lorsqûe Natanyaou est venu le jour de Yom Haatsmaout, à la question comment veux-tu qu’on se souvienne de toi? Il a dit qu’il voulait qu’on le voit comme l’homme qui a su préserver la sécurité d’Israel. J’AI TROUVé CELA TRISTE, MISERABLE et cela m’a fait peur. C’est si loin du rêve sioniste de mes grand-parents C’est oublier l’ensemble de l’édifice sioniste. Je suis un socialiste religieux c’est en opposiiton avec les raisons qui nous ont amenés ici.
On est revenu ici pour accomplir le rève des prophètes d’être la société, lumière des nations, transmettant la morale au monde.
Pour ce qui est du conflit israélo-palestinien et dans la vision sociale ,ou envers les étrangers, nous sommes très loin de cette prophétie. Malgré les changements dans le gouvernement, moins grand qu’on ne le fait croire, la majorité des moyens mis en place par le gouvenrment sont mis à faire le plus grand ghetto juif du monde. La construction de la barrière et dans le sud par les services de l’armée et maintenant une nouvelle barrière pour des milliards de dollars. J’ai fait partie des protestataires et cela m’a choqué. Personnes parmi les protestataires de l’Eté 2011 ne se sont intéressés à cette sorite de ghetto et seulement aux préoccupations sociales.
Personne aujourd’hui dans la classe politique ne voit la solution à lo0ng terme d’intégration à l’espace régional et de revenir à une morale sociale.

Avec quelques amis, nous proposons cette alternative. Nous n’arriverons pas à changer le gouvernement. On essaie de faire entrer dans le débat les termes de vision, de responsabilité et de justice. Cela fait 15 ans que nous avons des relations quotidiennes au niveau culturel mais également pratique avec les palestiniens du voisinage. Contrairement à ce qu’on dit en Israel, nous pensons qu’il y a un partenaire. A 1,500 mètres, vous pouvez voir la bourgade de Beith Oumar. Jusqu’à il y a peu de temps notre seule relation était d’engager des ouvriers. On essaie de changer la situation. La coexistence dans un sens positif. L’armée nous l’interdit, mais nous l’avons fait. La différence est entre ceux qui osent et ceux qui n’osent pas. Il n’y a pas assez de gens ni chez nous ni chez eux pour penser que c’est possible. 1 million de personne maintenant partagent ces idées. Nous ne sommes pas des suivistes de rabbins en général, mais il y a un rabbin qui ne voulait pas d’élèves et nous étions des élèves qui ne voulaient pas de rabbin. Ménahem Fruman, décédé il y a peu. On se rendra compte de sa grandeur après sa mort. Ce rav était une source d’inspiration, une légitimation, un lien entre les textes et les actes. Lié avec intellectuels et relitieux partout dans le monde. y compris Dalai Lama. Un prophète moderne pronant amour et liberté.
Ces 20 années à ses côtés, on ne peut pas parler d’héroisme car c’est un cliché, c’est son combat contre le cancer. Il comparait son corps ce que le peuple palestinien a vécu lorsque nous sommes arrivés en Israel. Il croyait au sionisme de manière religieuse. Il ne pouvait pas supporter que notre liberté implique l’asservissement des autres. Comment traduire cela en terme politique. Partie prenante de plusieurs forums stratégiques créés suite à la contestation sociale. Dialogue permanent y compris au bureau d’AM. Nous essayons de traduire cela par une réalité de deux états dans un même espace. On travaille sur des résolutions depuis deux ans et vous aurez une des première copies. C’est un groupe en formation.

Q: différence avec 2 états 2 peuples? Cela renforce la doctrine de la séparation qui est très dangereuse. la séparation est dans le coeur des deux parties. En un siècle de terrorisme, on n’a pas encore compris que l’espace est identitque malgré toutes les lignes. Le monde entier a compris le principe qu’il peut y avoir deux états. On parle de confédération depuis 1947, deux états nationaux avec des frontières ouverte, une monaie, une éco, des localités juives en territoire et des localités arabes chez les juifs. A l’époque, il y avait même des ports prévus à cet effet à Naharia et Jaffa. Si c’était une utopie en 47, c’est à présent réal.isable. Plutôt que de séparer en judenrein et arabrein irréalisable. La démonisation de l’autre ne change rien. LAHLOK VELO LEHALEK se partager sans se séparer.

Remarque de G. Unger: Colons sans idéologie et extrémistes prêts à déporter les palestiniens

Fils du fondateur de la Paix maintenant. Habite El-Azar, fait partie du Goush Etsion, 6 enfants, plusieurs petits-enfants. Directeur d’école, primaires à Jérusalem et maintenant sur le point de devenir directeur d’un lycée de 500 élèves à Ephrate. Nous habitons dans le même village, la même implantation comme on dit dans le jargon. A habité à Gilo et se faisait tirer dessus. Mes enfants avaient l’habitude et ont été heureux de déménager. En tant que directeur d’école religieuse j’ai fait partie du même groupe avec musulman: plus on se rapprochait du point de vue indivuduel plus on s’éloignait au niveau idéologique. Un homme que j’aime bien, un collègue, me présente ses condoléances pour la mort de deux étudiants mais en m’indiquant que le terroriste (activiste) est un ancien élève à lui, Suis tout à fait opposé à la barrière de la honte entre nous et les palestiniens. C’est une idée brillante de la gauche israélienne. On ne voit peut-êtrte plus les palestiniens mais cela ne règle rien. J’ai beaucoup de peine pour les palestiniens qui doivent passer par des passage insupportable. Ces check-points sont stupides et ridicules et humiliants. Cela dit, je ne suis pas d’accord qu’on sépare ma terre en deux. Je suis pour un comportement moral, respect de l’autre créé à l’image de Dieu. Mais pour mes enfants mitraillés pendant deux ans, situation complexe. En tant qu’éducateur, il nous revient d’expliquer cette complexité. Sincèrement je ne pense pas qu’jn état palestinien à coté d’un état israélien dans ce mouchoir de poche.
Sincèrement, j’étaits pour Oslo, j’étais surpris et ai voté Pérez mais on s’est pris une telle giffle. On se levait le matin et on se demandait qui allait mourir ce jour là. Avant Oslo on pouvait prendre un café à Bethléhem. J’étais contre le retrait de Gaza. Depuis, on n’a jamais eu autant de problème. On essaie de vivre. Respect de l’autre au-dessus des opinions politiques.
Pour qu’on fasse comme en Gallilée. iL FAUT annexer les territoires et donner le maximum de droit. Carte d’identité mais pas de passeport. Je ne suis pas venu habiter en Israel à cause de Tel Aviv mais à cause de la tombe de Rachel et le caveau d’Abraham.
La conquête de 1948 était beaucoup moins morale que celle de 67.
Pour un arabe palestinien il n’y a pas de différence entre les deux. Un état palestinien se crééera en Jordanie. Tout arabe palestinien prêt à vivre ici devrait avoir le droit de vote.
Q: QUE Signifie le maximum de droit. pour moi on doit parler les mêmes droit? Est-ce la même chose: choix d’école, de lieu d’habitation? Iraq en état de guerre avec Israêl depuis 49 ,mais loi modifiée avec les Kurdes. Visites, coopération.

Débat entre le chef du conseil des implantation, Dany Dayan, un peu le ministre des implantation et Avrum (Avraham Burg) ancien speakers de la Knesset, et deux journaliste, Charles Enderlin et Marius Schatner.

Question (Chemla) We saw and know the situation, the datas, all the facts and differences between settlers. How do you see Israel by 2020?

Dayan: I could answer with your question with an answer brief which you wouldn’t like. The confleit betwen jews and Palestinian is very easy to discribe and difficult to solve.
First we need to undestand the basis: two genuine, sincere, niational sentiments, narratives and beliefs: Zionism is the national liberation movement of the jewish people. For 2000 years we were dispersed, now Thanks to Theodore Hertzl we are back. By the way I’m not at all religious, totally secular but that’s our history.
On the other hand, the Palestiniam National movement. Newt Gingrich once said that the Palestinians are an inventied people, whatever, now that^s irrelevant because it is an ethnic group and their calim is legitimate. They couldn’t care less about Kink David walking in the area. It’s either a tale or a forged story. They don’t care about our Seder sentence Leshana Haba….
Bad news: between these two sincere narratives, tragically I doubt if there is a theoretical point in which these sentiments converge. Under such circumstances, you could try to ledaber et hamahagal, square the circle.
Only two solution:

1) the (in)famous two state solution which has two shortcomings: it’s impossible to achieve it. If we couldn’t achieve it under Oslo with Olmert who was totally convinced of the 2ss. Empirically, as Condy Rice wrote, she saw the conviction…Netanyahu has two convictions, one day for and one day against the 2SS. Fact is the Palestinians rejected it in 47, 67, 2000, 2008.
2) One state solution. One man one vote. We won’t accept, as a Jewish Society as a whole, to give up its jewish identity.

Now, back to your question: the conflitct right now is a set of equations without a solution. Two option in such case: simply state that there’s no solution, the other one is to impose a solution. (Marius Schatner said then the other solution is to change the equation).

Let’s see the situation without the illusion. Let’s simply improve the situation on the ground. To improve the life of I and P. I is guilty of giving a lind eye on the UGLY situation of the p. Checkpoints have to disappear, so do the fence and barriers. Complete freedom of movement should exist. Human rights on both parts have to be totally respected.
Political final status will be left for a more or less idstant future. The max we can achieve is an improvement of the current situation. Strenghten the Palestinian Autority. By the way, its existence is far from being insignificant. P in Ramallah after the Israeli-Arabs were the first Arabs in the world to vote democratically.
In 3-5 years, situation will be the same with minor improvements. It’s not ideal, it doesn’t fulfill our aspirations.

Avi Burg:
I have a different reading but let’s follow these footsteps. Dany Dayan once resigned and promoted Netanyahu. I’m there with him. We had some ministeres like Izhak Shamir who never woke up. At least Netan. does! First commitment of the 2SS. Formula is there. The last term of N was the best term ever: the P are having a P state almost in the same procedure that Is got it in 1947! This all happened under N. We always create a loop. Olmert was the only one married to the Peace solution and his infamous impechement probably has to do with politics as well.

I take all what Dany gives checkpoints and so on, but we’ve had for the last of 45 years in which 50% have almost Civil Rights (no gay marriage or civil marriage, so I is the only half democracy in the Middle East). All Jerusalem is under I, yet the discrepancy is crying They want the same rights out there in the Palestine. The equations of extremists are more or less violent. But a new generation is saying : “”we aren’t violent, we want our right”. They challenge our very notion of democracy. If one day, the Palestinian leader discovers necessary organs for political leadership and comes to Net. and claims for the rights. We don’t want to run the occupational show for you and want rights. Then the PState will run from De Facto to De Jure status.

Then practial politics will happen. This current state of affairs can continue forever. Let’s assume it continues forever…what about th eday the world decide that they are not ready to finance the occupation anymore.

Power of civil society. So the dream is actually a nightmare for the better future inthe region.

The minute the Israeli PM (Bibism is over of not doing anything) and its constituency will read the reality, the possiblity of the 2 SS will come back to life.

Evi:Vient de Zurich. Nous ne sommes ni un Kibboutz ni un moshav mais un village de paix dont la traduction vient d’Oasis de Paix. Vous venez de Hebron où vivent Israeliens et Palestiniens vivent, mais pas ensemble. Ici, les israéliens et les palestiniens vivent ensemble car ils l’ont décidé,J’ai grandi en Suisse dans une famille religieuse, sioniste, a été au Bné Akiva comme les juifs de Hébron. J’ai cessé d’être religieuse vers 17 ans. Après mon bac j’ai décidé de monter en Israël. Au Bné Akiva on ne parlait pas du tout des palestiniens. Israel était vu comme la seule solution pour le peuple juif après l’holocauste. Seul endroit où les juifs peuvent vivre en sécurité (mère rescapée de la Shoa, père en but). A l’uni, je me suis assise à côté de Mohamad, ce qui m’a étonnée. Etant déjà sensibilisée à ce que c’est qu’une minorité, j’ai commencé à faire le dialogue avec les arabes. J’ai commencé à sentir un certain malaise. Lorsque Mohamad m’a rencontré que sa soeur était hors d’Israël en 1948 et n’a donc pas pu s’enregistrer comme citoyenne et est donc devenue une réfugiée. Comme juive, je pouvais venir de Suisse et aurais pu recevoir le lendemain de mon arrivée une carte d’identité. Ayant reçu une éducation à la justice, j’ai compris qu’ici quelque chose ne fonctionnait pas. On a créé un groupe de dialogue à l’université. Si je voulais vivre dans ce pays en bonne conscience, il me fallait faire quelque chose pour la paix et la cohabitation avec Palestinien.

Groupe de dialogue de Bné Brit en 77, séminaire à Nevé Shalom. Tout ce que vous voyez ici aujourd’hui n’existait pas, arbres. 3 semaines dans des tentes, sans eau. Abdel Salam était notre cuisinier. Un groupe, avec à sa tête Bruno Hussard, juif d’origine, qui a grandi en Egypte. Parti en France étudier l’ingénierie et a trouvé le christianisme : père dominicain. A grandi dans un pays arabe, était juif et chrétien! Envoyé ici par l’église dominicaine pour fonder un institut pour des recherches de racines du christianisme dans le judaisme. Il a eu l’idée de créer un village oeucuménique. A cherché un terrain pendantn 10 ans car depuis la création de l’état d’Israel, un seul village arabe a été créé. Donc refus du gouvernement d’entrer en matière pour un village israélo palestinien. Il a fini par trouver le Monastère de Latrun. Ici on est exactement sur la ligne de démarquation. Il a donc pu avoir cette colline. A la fin de notre camp, en 77, Bruno nous a proposé de crééer un village. Il ne voulait pas des volontaires qui allaient et venaient mais une famille. Il a fait un ultimatum à Dieu.

Un noyau s’est formé en 77. On se rencontrait une fois par mois dans une barque (à présent Ecole de la Paix) et on a discuté sur la forme de notre entité. Les palestiniens ne voulaient pas d’un kibboutz, concept israélien, mais nous avons opté sur la coexistence au sein d’un village.

Ce n’est pas un village de couples mixtes, mais mon couple est mixte, Cf Notre livre Le Mariage de la Paix, Michel Laffont. 300 personnes, 60 familles. moitié-moitié juifs et palestiniens et parmi les palestiniens moitié musulmans et moitié chrétiens. Nous avons projeté un aggrandissement pour la deuxième génération. Incroyable nombre d’enfants veulent vivre ici. Travail essentiel: éducation. Pas facile du tout, on a beaucoup de discussions et de disputes.

Elle s’est mariée à Zurich.

En 84, j’ai proposé un feu de camp pour l’anniversaire de l’Indépendante. A l’époque on parlait d’arabes et pas de palestiniens. Or il ne sont pas venus. Nous avons discuté toute une nuit et avons compris que pour eux, l’indépendance est le sentiment de la Naqbah. On a alors défini notre principe: pour vivre ensemble en paix c’est d’accepter de ne pas être d’accord. C’est ce qui nous a permis de survivre à toutes les guerres. Nous avons des identifications différente. Personnellement, je suis contente que mon peuple ait son état mais je comprends et respecte l’autre. Pas de drapeau israélien. Malgré toutes ces guerres, personne n’a quitté le village. Plus dûr événement, mort d’un jeune dans un hélicoptère. Palestiniens et Juifs étaient tous en deuil. Sa famille voulait faire un mémorial. C’est quelque chose de très juif. Certains palestiniens ont alors dit que cela allait trop loin. Pas de mémorial d’un soldat, fut-il un enfant du village. 2 ans pour résoudre le dilemne. Les médias ne nous aiment pas beaucoup en Israël. Yediyot Aharonot a même titre “Guerre à Neve Shalom”. On a pu résoudre cela par une plaque dans la salle de sport.

Guerre du Golfe, j’étais enceinte de ma première fille. Les palestiniens se réjouissaient que Saddam Hussein montre aux israéliens ce que cela faisait de se faire détruire sa maison.
Toute notre infrastructure dépend des Amis de NS, car le gouvernement israélien ne nous donne rien. Quand Sharon était président, il a été blessé ici en 48, il n’aimait pas cet endroit. Maintenant nous sommes reconnu par l’état, mais nos institutions éducatives ne recoivent rien pour l’éducation pour la paix.

Normalement, nous expliquons toujours le village à deux, un arabe et un juif. Depuis la mort de Tom, la question du service militaire est devenue une question personnelle, donc nos enfants sont exemptés.

Pour la question 1 ou deux etat, tous les avis sont représentés. Nous sommes seulement la manifestation politique qu’il est possible de vivre en paix.

Nous avons un secrétaire général élu, sorte de maire. Secrétariat, sorte de gouverneemnt. Cf. Brochure. Tous les dons vont aux institutions éducatives

5 institutions pour l’éducation pour la paix:

ECOLE DE LA PAIX: au début du village, sur un vrai dialogue. Nous sommes devenue une avant-garde. Formation d’animateurs d’éducation à la paix. Education pour agents de changement. Projet de 18 mois avec Israéliens juifs et palestiniens et palestiniens de Gaza. Jeunes politiciens. atelier et cours pour journalistes afin que juifs et palestiniens peuvent confronter leurs infos. USAID a donné des fonds mais cherchons de nouveaux partenaires. Si on avait un millième du budget de l’armée, on ferait beaucoup plus que tout ce que l’armée fait. L’Etat d’Israel ne fait rien, même si nous savons comment faire.
Elle va créer une bibliothèque de la paix en relation avec l’Université de Massachussets. Silvia Machado a permis de trouver des fonds auprès des mairies de Genève, Meyrin et Bâles.

ECOLE PRIMAIRE ET CRECHE: 90% des enfants viennent du dehors.

ECOLE: Va devenir une école de l’Etat.

Complication et facilité à la fois. A été à Ramallah, normalement interdit aux israéliens, mais a assisté à une conférence au monument Darwish. A vu quelques mauvaises herbes. Une dame est venue car j’ai aussi enlevé une pensée…je lui ai donc offert cette fleur. On a commencé à se parler.
Au niveau individuel, c’est facile, mais vous, européens, avez un rôle à jouer. Il faut dénoncer le gouvernemnt israélien très sévèrement.Vous avez un devoir envers nous et le monde entier. Nous sommes une société malade de l’occupation. Les palestiniens également sont malade pour la même raison.

On a eu tant d’espoir avec Obama, et il n’a rien fait, il a laissé Netanyahu continuer sa politique d’occupation. Mes enfants ont fait l’armée civile et pas l’armée. Alors que leurs cousins sont pilotes de guerre.

Je suis arrivé ii il y a 8 ans. Je pense que le fait que j’ahbite ici m’a rendu plus sensible aux souffrances des Palestiniens. Je me sens responsable lorsque j’écoute des Palestiniens en tant qu’Israélien.

Je suis un expert des génocides: rwanda, arménien (Israël ne le reconnaît pas non seulement à cause de la Turquie mais parce que beaucoup estiment ici que l’holocauste est unique, c’est une honte): On ne reconnait pas la Naqba, c’est interdit en Israël et si on le fait, on retire la bourse d’étude.

Je ne peux pas me définir ni comme sioniste ni comme antisionite. Lors de ma candidature ici, j’ai d’âbord été refusé car considéré comme trop sioniste.

I don’t think you want me to talk about what should happen despite our values common denominator with JCall. Reason also means to understand the irrational component of human nature.
Two paradoxes:

1) since 2000 including the 2nd intifada, every single poll and piece of research shows that 2/3d of Israeli believe that the 2 SS is the only solution . The fact that we are not moving anywhere is stranger

2) Israel from its very outset sang songs about peace and harmony which the Arab world would finally come to accept. Paradox: 2002 peace plan by Saoudi Arabia affirming that all arab countries would recognize Israel within the 1967 borders. Every year, this statement has been reiterated including this year by Egyptian President Morsi.

92 % of israeli are not aware of the very existence of this Arab initiative. of the 8% who know about it, most don’t know its real content.

How come this peace narrative isn’t translated into accepting this arab league peace initiative?
This settelement has to be regional and not bilateral and I belong to a group

3 analytic pieces to explain this double paradox.

Netanyahu’s view is that the world doesn’t read correctly this conflict when it deals with two nations fighting for territory. He claims that in fact the Arab world don’t accept the existence of Israel.

1) The intifada was truly terrible. We didn’t stop going to the restaurant but we’d choose those which didn’t have a long corridor, the weapons of the security guard and where he had been in the army.

You don’t understant how deeply afraid Israelis are. And the government has used this fear to justify the settlement project.

The fear is absolutely genuine and this yet doesn’t justify the settlement project.

Gaza withdrawal: has made Israel disbelief what peace means.

5 years ago, I wrote an article responding to Moshe Arentz whom I deeply respect. He however believes we have to annex the territories and grant Palestinians full rights. I asked him to stop using the term zionism (he had talked about post-zionism).

Zionism doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t make sense. It’s like asking an Italian if he’s in favour of Risorgimento.

We jews have a hang up, we love thinking in Messianic terms. The problem is that everybody has a different Messiah. National religious movement which ranges from in its mildest from a fusion of messianic religion and ideologic politics and at the worse terrorist movement to accelerate the coming of Gog and Magog. There are people who really believe that.

In the heart of 70% of Israelis, deep feeling that zionism should be a messianic movement. Why a group as small as the national religious movement (7 MP) has been able to dictate its policy within the last 47 years. We have lost the deep drive of the Messianic believe. Deep sense of guilt Israelis feel because the rhethoric of messiah has vanished.

As long as we don’t understaant that politics is the art of the possible and compromise. Messianic ideas can only bring about rivers of blood.

If we give up this argument of Messianism, why are we here in Israel?

Social movement wasn’t so much about social justice. 50% of demonstrators belong to the upper 30% part of I pop. It was Israeli population claim to normalcy.

Yaïr Lapid doesn’t think in revolutionary speak. Speaks like European politicians. Israel will not be able to move to a normal type of politics until it understands that revolution and messiamism is over.

2) About the Arab Piece initiative: total disbelief from the majority of Israelis, despite the signing every year of the same peace initiative document. They still think in Jabotinsky terms. Problem is that Israelis wait for love. What are you waiting for? They aren’t going to sing Hatikva!!!! But the reason for their signing is the fear of Islamic Djihad and ally with the West.

There are really intelligent people in Israel and they freeze when you tell them this.

3) Jerusalem psychiatric syndrome (people who suddenly think in Jerusalem that they are the Messiah). Psycho.political Jerusalem Syndrom: Some claim that on Mount Moriah, it was Ismael and not Isaac who was about to be sacrificed. This story is about the propensity of human mind to turn things into absolute. by the way for the Christians, the father actually sacrificed his son.

Any peace agreement will eventually fail because that place, nobody is willing to give up. By the way, if only Vatican also claimed the place it would be a great game changer. But the unconscious of the middle east symbolized by the Temple Mount doesn’t allow for compromise. Deepest

Voice of Reason is of Silence and isn’t heard. Your role is to make sure that the voice of reason is heard.

Présupposés qui consistent à relever des défis en Israel et en Europe pour JCall. Oû pouvons-nous mieux faire pour que les choses bougent.

Quelle attitude faut-il avoir vis-à-vis du gouvernement actuel qui vient à peine d’être formé dans le contexte de l’initiative arabe? On constate que Netanyahu est mal à l’aise. Il ne s’est pas prononcé puisqu’il ne peut ni l’approuver ni le réfuter. L’opinion juive ne s’exprime pas. Les thèmes de la campagne prouvent bien que le sort des palestiniens, en dépit du travail des journalistes et politiques, ne fait pas partie de nos préoccupation quotidienne.

Que faire devant ce blocage? Adopter le registre de la condamnation et de l’indignation? C’est la position des post-sionistes. Ou alors, pour convaincre et ouvrir des portes, on fait des stratégies de concessions. On essaie non pas de se mettre à la place mais de comprendre les inquiétdudes psychologieques, les craintes.

La position de l’intellectuel engagé est l’intransigeance. Attitude de splendide isolement…ou alors une stratégie de concession pour lacher du terrain et tirer les groupes sociaux de l’autre côté. Tout en étant ferme dans mes convictions, je pense qu’il y a du travail à faire. Je ne suis pas sur que le discours seul de la normalité et de la raison suffise pour convaincre ceux qui, sans être les extrêmistes auxquels je renonce, sont animés par la foi . Il est normal que les enfants enterrent leurs parents et pas le contraire.

Dans cette région et ses mythes fondateurs religieux, peut-on faire abstraction de cette dimension idéale.

N’abandonnons ni le sionisme ni le judaïsme. Il y a un travail à faire et cela implique de prendre en considération des identités, des communautarisme, et pas se contenter d ‘une sorte de transcendance civique et citoyenne. Hypothèse à travailler plus que solution.

Le défi de la paix est aussi un défi culturel à relever. Comment s’adresser aux juifs orientaux pour qui le langage de la raison est celui qu’ils veulent entendre? Comment relier la question de la justice sociale à celle de la paix?

Ces peurs là, il faut les écouter. L’invocation de la Shoah n’est pas de l’instrumentalisation mais de réelles inquiétudes. Retraits d’Israel du sud-liban et de la bande de Gaza expliquent les réticences des Israéliens. Sensibilité qu’il ne faut ni mépriser ni sous-estimer.

Certes, il y a des gens qui exploitent et instrumentalisent ces peurs, mais le phénomène n’est pas réductible à cela.

Cela ne remet pas dou tout en cause l’indignation, la protestation dans la condamnation et la critique des gouvernements Isrraélien et la complexité de laq société israélienne.
Je reste convaincu que la clef de la négocation israélo-palestinienne, c’est la population des concitoyens qui la détiennent.

On ne parle plus de processus de paix mais de processus politique.

S’il y avait une campagne à faire, c’est le caractère exceptionnel de ce bonhomme!

Pour la majorité libérale, le processus procedurier et des droits de l’homme manque de chair.

Toutes les initiatives de paix sont remarquables, mais ce qui me semble le plus nécessaire aujourd’hui c’est de montrer des images de la normalité palestienne. Comment on vit à Ramallah.

Que chacun continue son travail de contestation et de dénonciation, mais à côté, faire également un travail positif.

Je crois qu’il faut cesser d ‘être obsédés par la dénonciation instinctive et systématique de tout propos qui se tient contre Israël. Il faut le faire avec mesure, faute de quoi on s’aliène la majorité juive. Ne pas laisser le terrain aux instance communautaire hyper-réactives qui font un tort énorme. Contredire la voix des instances communautaire.

Pas de discopurs radical pro-palestiien mais pas non plus celui qui domine à l’heure actuelle les communautés juives.

Pas de message optimiste concernant les négociations car la société israélienne n’en fait pas sa préoccupatoin majeure. Aujourd’hui on n’arrive pas à mobiliser ici. D’où le role qu’a la diaspora à jouer. L’obligation de réserve ne concerne que les fonctionnaire, ce que ne sont pas les juifs de la diaspora!

Droits historiques: ce sont des droits relatifs et non absolus.

C’est moins une position politique que pédagogique qu’il faut défendre, entre le bien et le meilleur. Il faut aussi dynamiser cette relation. Avoir plus de visibilité en Israël et en diaspora. Initiatives professionnelles à priviliéger. Rechercher le terrain commun pour que l’information circule et sortir du sentiment d’isolement.

Coopération politique.

Travail à propos du racisme parmi les jeunes. Les esprits sont échauffés et intolérants. Effort à faire pour soutenir initiatives pédagogiques dans le domaine de l’instruction civique. Ce qu’on appelle l’éducation informelle est ce par lequel cette idéologie nationaoiste source à la revendication d’un autre peuple s’insinue et fait des ravages.

Qu’attendre des palestiniens? La reconnaissance de facto ou de jure? Si la négociation porte sur mémoire, identité, on n’y arrivera jamais. Le traité de paix devrait être exclusivement technique. On peut toutefois envisager un préambule sur les questions qui tiennent aux consciences des uns et des autres. Je ne peux pas faire changer d’avis les palestiniens sur le fait que le sionisme est un colonialisme.

La revendication de la reconnaissance d’Israël comme état juif est la preuve de la psychologie israélienne qui est de l’ordre de l’inassouvi. Psychique israélien: hier la charte, aujourd’hui cette reconnaissance…Il est temps de dire à Israël: “il faut se faire soigner”
