At the end of my journey across the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, I was meant to stay and relax in my lovely hotel, the Surf…. But had to visit Bevis Bawa’s legendary family house
…. Although finding it proved more difficult than expected … But worth it as the people and landscapes are simply exquisite! And then comes this out-of-the world property…. At the end of a magical flower path, in the heart of the loveliest and most luxuriant garden
…and I finished my trip with his brother Geoffrey, one of the world’s most famous architects who combines in very special way the uniqueness of the Sri Lankan nature and architecture… His Meditation on Lake Bara, the Gallery Café….but above all Bawa’s House in Colombo are worth the visit…. At least….Despite the rather lunatic Director of the Trust who tends to treat her guests as immature schoolboys and girls….make sure you comply with her strict visiting schedules!
