Opera

No art is more cosmopolitan than opera… because no language is more international than music…. Apart from maths of course! And them we delight in these antic or mythical stories, dramas, comedies, reflecting contemporary societies or immemorial concerns in Italian, German, French, English…to name some of its de facto languages.

My passion for operas started with my interest for stage management…and it ended with a fascination for the voices, the musical arrangements and the delightfully
incredible stories. I was so intrigued by the Manaus opera that it was the initial reason for me to fly to Brazil In 2013…and I visited as well the Opera of Rio which is outstanding…Rio2 395 Rio2 392 Rio2 390 Rio2 399 Tonight, I saw for at least the third time in my life what is certainly one of my
favorite operas, Le Nozze di Figaro. It is both funny, witty, extremely musical and charming. Stage management was
interesting: a kind of nursery house getting bigger and bigger like a web until it explode…Tommi Hakala who played Almaviva on a very short notice due to Bruno Taddia’s accident, was really impressive, so were the sopranos Malin Byström (Contessa di Almaviva) and Natalya Kovalova (Susanna). I was disappointed by both Figaro
(David Bizik) and Marcellina (Marta Marquez) who was almost inaudible in the first part…. Anyhow, I realized I had quite a collection of opera booklets from the Grand Théâtre…so let’s share what I have…and a couple of other places in over 70 recorded pieces…and more to come!
