Opera

No art is more cosmopolitan than opera… because no language is more international than music…. Apart from maths of course! And them we delight in these antic or mythical stories, dramas, comedies, reflecting contemporary societies or immemorial concerns in Italian, German, French, English…to name some of its de facto languages, but also Russian, its de cuore one!

My passion for operas started with my interest for stage management…and it ended with a fascination for the voices, the musical arrangements and the delightfully
incredible stories. I was so intrigued by the Manaus opera that it was the initial reason for me to fly to Brazil In 2013…and I visited as well the Opera of Rio which is outstanding…Rio2 395Rio2 392Rio2 390Rio2 399Anyhow, I realized I had quite a collection of opera booklets from the Grand Théâtre…so let’s share what I have…and a couple of other places in over 70 recorded pieces…and more to come!

Don Giovanni (2009), — 1er juin 2018:

Magnificent Première performance at Opera des Nations yesterday! 1st part was adversely commented although I loved it and second part was simply awesome in my humble opinion 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I can never get over Purcell I guess … and it prompted me to read Dryden’s beautiful text….Bravo Grand Théâtre! It was daring, inspired and witty!
