Visiting Colombo at the same time as the Prime Minister of Pakistan was not an easy journey….but if I wasn’t able to visit the old Dutch Hospital, I still managed to see enough to realize there is more to Colombo than the eye and palate can meet….
I shall be back…. The racial tensions are still present and making kids learn each other language can only prove beneficial if these kids meet, play together and share common dreams….
From what I saw and heard, people have still to come to term with deep wounds and if the tourism industry is booming (and destroying the gorgeous coastline with 11 storeys buildings such as the Weligama Marriott), how long will it take to erase a rare insular quality and an unsatisfactory and superficial reconciliation?
